Advisories

CAPI: Centre for Advanced Paranormal Investigation has been aware since 2003 that other organizations and individuals have been misrepresenting themselves as investigators for CAPI. While we encourage other paranormal investigators and organizations in the Calgary area, we ask that they DO NOT trade on our reputation and identify themselves as members of the CAPI team.

To ensure your privacy, CAPI only responds to email requests from clients, as outlined on our Investigation Services page, and will never solicit Private Home owners for investigations. CAPI does, from time to time, contact Public/Historic locations.

We advise anyone contacted by "CAPI" to forward any emails and other information to our webmaster.

Investigation Services

CAPI is currently a non-profit, volunteer organization serving the Metro Calgary area and Southern Alberta region. Any and all expenses connected to investigations and research is covered by team members.

While we do not charge for our services, we do ask that our clients consider donating a minimum of $50 per investigation visit in the Metro area. We also ask clients in the Southern Alberta region to consider covering our travel expenses for investigations outside the Metro area.

These donations are NOT a prerequisite nor are they required for us to perform an investigation.

The Process From Initial Contact to Completed Investigation

All information collected is completely confidential, as per Provincial and Federal Privacy Legislation.

Step One: Initial Contact

Public and Historic locations may be contacted by an official representative of CAPI outlining our request for research/investigation or a representative of the Public/Historic location may chose to contact us.

Every Private Home client must initiate contact, requesting information/help via email ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) to ensure they are contacting CAPI. All information collected is kept completely confidential. CAPI will never solicit Private Home owners for investigations.

For Private Home clients - After initial contact has been made (as described above), an email asking for more information and/or to set up a phone interview is sent. During the phone interview, we collect more information about who is experiencing the paranormal phenomenon as well as the locations of suspected activity. The questions are slightly personal. All information collected is kept completely confidential. This helps us determine how to help each individual client and to determine if an investigation is warranted. If so, a day and time is set for the team to investigate.

Step Two: Initial Investigation

The team will arrive at the location to perform an initial investigation. We go through one of our Questionnaires (Private Home or Historical/Public) to document various elements, both personal and paranormal. All information collected is kept completely confidential. We photo-document the location with 35mm and/or digital cameras. We also use video and/or audio recording devices, take compass, temperature, and EMF readings. We cover the location from basement to attic and, if necessary, include any outlying buildings. The team then compares notes regarding feelings, any unusual energy in the location, instrument readings, etc. These findings are shared with the client at the conclusion of our initial investigation. At this time we determine if a second investigation is needed.

Before the on-line report is posted (as per our Release of Information form), if requested, all pictures, video and audio recordings are available for the client to view after they are developed and analyzed. If no second investigation is needed (where we would normally review these), you can ask for a CAPI team member to set up an appointment to review these. The cost of any hard copies requested must be covered by the client.

Step Three: Follow-up Investigation (If Needed)

This investigation re-examines the entire location, focusing on areas of interest from the initial investigation. Any subsequent activity reported by the client is recorded. All pictures, video and audio recordings from the first visit are reviewed with the client. All findings that differ from the first visit are recorded and discussed. Any subsequent visits beyond this one may, depending on the overall findings, be presented as an option to the client. If the client requests a solution (i.e. removal of spirit, energy, etc. from your home/place of business), we help determine the best course of action, but do not provide these services. Our mandate is to document any paranormal and non-paranormal activity at each location we visit, then create scientific theories to explain said activity (or lack thereof) from the data we collect.

Step Four: If Requested

The CAPI team can research various aspects of a locations history including prior owners, any sort of traumatic events that may have happened (including but not limited to murder, suicide, abuse) and any other pertinent information. This research can be expensive. If cost prohibitive for CAPI members, we may have to discontinue our historical research unless the client wishes to compensate CAPI. While it is not a necessity for us to research the history of a location to continue an investigation, in certain circumstances it may help us understand why specific events are occurring.
